Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru les Cras
Bourgogne, France
Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru, Les Cras, is one of the most prestigious appellations in Burgundy.
This plot of 1.75 hectares, located between 275 and 300m above sea level is facing south-east.
Its subsoil is made of limestone marls. With a low yield of 34 hectoliters per hectare, the Georges & Christophe Roumier estate produces around 7,500 bottles, and around a hundred magnums per vintage.
The harvest is manual, the fermentation is only carried out by indigenous yeasts. The wines are neither fined nor filtered. The aging is done in barrels (25% new barrels) of oak from 2 to 8 years, for a period of 16 months.
This Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras is a great, slightly mineral red wine with silky tannins. It presents notes of white flowers (lilac, acacia) and a good length in the mouth.
You have here a wine for keeping, which can be tasted young, as in several years.
It is a real marvel to discover.
